Quick answers about Fizen eSIM — phone numbers, hotspot, buying more data, validity, and more.
Does my eSIM come with a phone number?
No — Fizen eSIMs are data-only. You keep your regular number active on your physical SIM for calls and SMS, and use the eSIM for internet. WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage keep working with your existing number.
How do I pay?
Your choice: USDT straight from your Fizen wallet balance, Card (Visa/Mastercard), or Apple Pay / Google Pay for one-tap checkout. Card payments are processed by Stripe; Fizen never stores your card number. No bank account required for the USDT route.
When should I install and turn on my eSIM?
Install shortly before departure on a stable connection, ideally a trusted Wi-Fi network. Installing after arrival can fail because of provider restrictions or public Wi-Fi limitations. One important exception: if you bought a regional or global plan that also covers the country you’re in now, don’t turn it on early. Keep the eSIM line off and unselected for mobile data until you reach your destination — connecting to a supported network can start the plan’s validity period and data usage.
When does my plan's validity start?
For most plans, validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network — not at purchase. The exact activation policy can vary by plan, so check your plan’s Package details. Buy days ahead and install before you fly, but keep the line off until you need it if your plan covers the country you’re departing from.
What should I do if my eSIM doesn't connect?
Check that you’re in a covered destination, the eSIM line is turned on and selected for mobile data, and Data Roaming is on for the eSIM. Then toggle Airplane Mode for 30 seconds or restart your device. Still nothing? Check the APN and network instructions in your plan, follow the full troubleshooting checklist, or contact Fizen Support in the app.Whatever you do, don’t delete the eSIM — a deleted eSIM can’t be reinstalled, but a “not working” one can almost always be fixed.
Can I use one eSIM on multiple devices?
No. Each eSIM works on one device only. Install it on the device you’ll actually use for your trip — once activated, it can’t be transferred to another device.
Can I share my connection via hotspot?
Most plans support hotspot/tethering, but it depends on the plan — check the Package details before buying if hotspot matters to you. Keep in mind that sharing drains your data allowance faster.
What happens when my data runs out?
Buy a new plan in the Fizen App in a few taps. Most plans currently don’t support topping up an existing eSIM, so the new plan comes as a new eSIM to install — with one-click activation that takes about a minute. Check your remaining balance anytime in eSIM → My eSIMs (guide) and buy before you run out so you stay connected.
Can I use one plan in multiple countries?
Yes, with a regional plan — one package covers every country in the region (e.g. Europe, Asia). Single-country plans work only in that country.
Can I return an eSIM I haven't installed yet?
Usually, yes. If you bought the wrong country, your trip got cancelled, your phone turned out not to support eSIM, or you simply changed your mind, a not-yet-installed eSIM on a refundable plan can be returned for a flat $1 processing fee — our agent confirms the refund method based on how you paid. Refund eligibility depends on the plan: check Package details, or message the in-app live chat with your Order ID and we’ll confirm. Details: 1:1 Trip Guarantee & Refunds.
I already installed the eSIM — can I still return it?
Not for a change of mind. Installing an eSIM consumes it, so an installed eSIM can’t be returned if you bought the wrong country or plan, or installed it on the wrong phone. That’s why it’s worth checking the destination, the plan and your device before you install.A faulty installed eSIM is a different case and it is covered: once support confirms the fault, you get a free 1-for-1 replacement or a refund for the days you couldn’t use. See the 1:1 Trip Guarantee.
What if my phone turns out not to support eSIM?
Check before you install — the Fizen App has a device compatibility check, and dialling *#06# shows whether your phone has an EID. If your device can’t take the eSIM and you haven’t installed it, return it for a refund minus the $1 fee. Note that a model can appear on our reference list and still not work, for example a carrier edition, a market variant, a managed work phone, or a modified device — see Supported Devices.
I deleted my eSIM by accident — can I get it back?
A deleted eSIM can’t be reinstalled from your side. Contact support via the in-app live chat with your Order ID — we’ll review your case and help recover any unused data where possible.
Can I use my regular SIM and eSIM at the same time?
Yes, if your device supports Dual SIM and is carrier-unlocked. Use the Fizen eSIM for mobile data and keep your regular SIM active for calls and texts. To avoid surprise roaming charges: turn off Data Roaming for your regular SIM and disable Cellular Data Switching (iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data). Note your home carrier may still charge for calls or texts you make abroad.
How much data do I need?
Rough guide: maps + messaging ≈ 0.5 GB/day, social media + photos ≈ 1 GB/day, video calls + streaming ≈ 2+ GB/day. When in doubt, take the bigger plan — the per-GB price drops as plans get bigger.
