What it is
QR code payment is how everyday spending works across much of Asia, from street food stalls to taxis. Visitors are usually locked out of it, because the local apps want a local bank account. QR Pay removes that barrier. You keep your money as USDT in your own Fizen wallet, move across what you plan to spend, and pay the same codes everyone else pays. Why travellers use it
- No local bank account. Nothing to open, nothing to close when you leave.
- No cash to carry or change back. You stop hunting for ATMs and you go home without a pile of unusable notes.
- The rate and any fee are visible before you confirm. No surprise on a card statement two days later.
- It works where cards often do not. Small shops, markets and taxis take QR codes long before they take cards.
Where it works
Live in Vietnam and the Philippines for visitors and foreigners, and extending to Latin America, where it will be open to residents too. QR Pay is for cross border use, so you cannot pay merchants in your home country. Full country and QR code list, plus the four step setup, is in Getting Started. The Fizen wallet is self custody. QR Pay works differently: USDT you move into QR Pay is governed by the Fizen QR Pay Terms, so only move in what you plan to spend.
